3 Connecticut Business Owners Arrested for Alleged Workers' Comp Violations

Rockhill, Conn. (WTNH) —

Three Connecticut business owners were arrested on Thursday related to alleged workers' compensation law violations, according to the Office of the Chief State's Attorney.

Luis Pomaquiza, 42

Owner of LA Roofing, LLC in Middletown, was charged with defrauding a workers' compensation insurance carrier. He is accused of conducting roof-replacement site visits in Southington with employees who were not reported to the company's insurance carrier.

Jordan Tyler, 36

Owner of J.A.T. Builders, LLC in East Hartford, was charged with noncompliance with insurance requirements. An investigation revealed that an employee sustained an injury while working for Tyler's company when it did not have an active workers' compensation insurance policy. As a result of this incident, the State of Connecticut’s Second Injury Fund was ordered to pay more than $25,000 in combined benefits.
