Alaska Business Magazine, September 16, 2026
A subsidiary of Afognak Native Corporation has acquired a majority stake in a group of trucking, fuel, and logistics companies serving customers across Alaska. Afognak Commercial Group is now the parent company of Weaver Bros., Doyle’s Fuel Service, and Doyle Transport, collectively known as Afognak-Weaver Logistics, LLC.
Founded in 1946 and family-owned since 1978, Weaver Bros. offers specialized freight services to various industries, including construction, energy, mining, retail, and government.
"Weaver Bros. has built a reputation as a trusted Alaska freight provider over the past seven decades," says Afognak CEO Dan Corbett. "This investment is a long-term strategy that strengthens our commercial business and ensures its legacy for future generations of Afognak shareholders."
The acquisition sees James “Jimmy” Doyle remain as president, with the existing team continuing to serve customers under their familiar names.
"I'm proud to have carried the Weaver Bros. name for almost five decades, and I wanted its next chapter to be with a company committed to Alaska's future," shares Doyle. "Afognak aligns perfectly with our values, and I'm excited about what we'll achieve together."
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. This move expands Afognak’s presence in energy, infrastructure, and logistics sectors, supporting their growth strategy.
