The Versailles community hosted a benefit car show to support the Wilson family following a devastating fire that destroyed their historic pool hall in July.
Community Support for Wilson's Pool Room
Wilson's Pool Room, a local landmark open since 1955, was destroyed in a fire that also displaced three families living in a nearby residential building. On October 17th, friends and supporters organized a benefit car show to raise funds for the Wilson family's rebuilding efforts.
More than 100 people entered the car show, and hundreds more showed up to support the cause.
A Devastating Loss and a Promise to Rebuild
Event organizer Shannon Steenbergen expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support:
"This is what we do. This is how we participate in the way that we enjoy doing for the things that [the Wilsons] enjoy doing and for the families. So, we all came together to actually do something for someone that we care so much for, that we all enjoy doing."
The Wilson family intends to rebuild, despite the challenges posed by the building's age.
