Every company on this year's Top 49ers list excels in their sector. Making it onto the list required substantial achievements. This year marks a first: eight of these companies have crossed the $1 billion gross annual revenue threshold.
These are Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC), Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC), NANA Regional Corporation, Chenega Corporation, Lynden, Calista Corporation, Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC), and Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC). ASRC, BBNC, NANA, Chenega, Lynden, Calista, BSCN, and UIC were all in the $1 billion club as of 2025.
Some companies reached this milestone years ago; others are newcomers to the club. Despite their differences, each shares a focus on disciplined expansion, strategic investments, and diversification for sustainable growth.
A Historical Milestone
Never before have so many Alaska-based companies achieved $1 billion in revenue in a single year—even adjusted for inflation. The 2012 Top 49ers list featured seven companies whose 2011 gross revenue would be equivalent to $1 billion today.
So, what led to this remarkable growth in 2025? Some of these Elite Eight shared their perspectives:
Clear Vision and Strategic Investments
ASRC, a longtime Top 49er veteran, has held the top spot since 1995. It reached $1 billion revenue in 2000, ahead of its self-imposed target.
"ASRC’s success over the last fifty-four years reflects a disciplined approach to growth," says Rex A. Rock Sr., President and CEO. "Their vision was clear but profound: create long-term stability for our people, communities, and the broader Alaska economy."
