The Chattanooga Times Free Press
As elections get underway, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) warns of potential political scams. In light of the ongoing political climate, scammers may attempt to capitalize on the situation by targeting unsuspecting individuals.
Remember that during times of political activity, it's important to remain vigilant and be cautious of unsolicited emails, phone calls, or mailers that seem too good to be true. Here are some tips to help you navigate these tricky waters:
- Verify the source: Check the legitimacy of the organization or individual reaching out to you.
- Be wary of urgent demands: Scammers often create a sense of urgency to pressure you into making quick decisions.
- Protect your personal information: Never share sensitive data, such as Social Security numbers or financial account details, unless you are certain of the recipient's identity.
In the world of political scams, staying informed and being proactive can be a testament to your vigilance. By following these guidelines, you can help ensure that your involvement in the election process remains secure and free from fraudulent activities.
