Camp Verde Business Owner Lent a Helping Hand after Devastating Flooding

CAMP VERDE, AZ (AZFamily) — After devastating flooding damaged homes in the Camp Verde area last week, Julio Duran, owner of D&D Handyman, and his team are volunteering to help neighbors clean up.

Duran said, “We’re doing okay. We don’t hurt for nothing, and I do see people who do need help, so that’s why we’re stepping in.” Rather than charge for the work, Duran, his employees, and other volunteers are offering cleanup services free of charge. They started by clearing water, mud, and debris and are now using their equipment to haul away belongings ruined by the flooding.

“We’re doing it all just out of the kindness of our hearts, you know, just trying to help others out and trying to push forward,” Duran said. “My team and myself, we have just been working every day this week and just volunteering.”

Duran has been moved by the response from others in the community as well. “I felt myself halfway coming to tears just knowing that we’re trying to make a positive difference and the whole community is coming together,” he said. “It’s not just myself at all. I have seen other people doing the same thing.”

Duran plans to offer their services free of charge for another week. Afterwards, he will offer 45% off services to help offset some of the expenses for people who continue to clean up. He said they can always use more shovels, rakes, and gas vouchers to help with their efforts.
