Cherapa Place Plaza will host the inaugural European-inspired Downtown Christmas Market on December 5 from 3 to 9 p.m. This new event is made possible through an AARP Livable Communities Grant and aims to bring life to downtown during the winter season with festive gatherings for residents and visitors alike.
The market will feature:
- The Spice & Tea Exchange: Cozy winter teas and seasonal favorites
- Terra Shepherd Boutique: Eco-friendly holiday wear and decorations
- Plum’s Cooking Co.: Specialty holiday treats
- Landscape Garden Centers: Custom greenery workshops
- Matchbox Candle Co.: Holiday scents and souvenirs
- Totally Rad Pizza: Christmas market-inspired eats
- Fig & Fir Resale: Curated holiday favorites
- Whittier Carolers: Live holiday music
- The Premiere Playhouse: Festive holiday characters
Families can enjoy visits with Santa Claus, outdoor heaters for comfort, and a special "Letters to Santa" station. Attendees can also purchase a collectible Downtown Christmas Market mug as a keepsake.
Brandon Hanson, CEO of Downtown Sioux Falls Inc., expressed gratitude for the grant:
“We are incredibly grateful to AARP and the Livable Communities Grant program for helping make this event possible. This grant allows us to pilot a European-style Christmas Market right here in downtown Sioux Falls, creating a unique holiday experience... We look forward to building a new holiday tradition.”
Downtown Sioux Falls Inc. is still seeking a handful of vendors for the event. Apply here to be part of this seasonal celebration.
This market coincides with the 605 Made Holiday Market, an indoor pop-up shop in the lower-level parking ramp of the original Cherapa Place building, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the same day. Vendor applications for the 605 Made Holiday Market have already closed.
