A man was shot and killed Thursday morning during an attempted robbery at a shared business in the east valley, Las Vegas police said.

At about 11:40 a.m. Thursday, LVMPD Dispatch received a call reporting a person shot in the 3400 block of East Flamingo Road near South Pecos Road. Officers from the Southeast Area Command responded and found a man inside a business suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. Officers rendered aid until medical personnel arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

LVMPD Homicide detectives were notified and are investigating, according to Lt. Robert Price.

Preliminary information indicates three men entered what police described as a shared business and attempted to rob it. Police said an employee tried to stop the robbery and rushed toward one of the men, and that man shot him. The three men then fled in an unknown direction, police said.

Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

LVMPD said the building appears to house several businesses, including a barbershop, retail, and miscellaneous items. Investigators are working to determine which business was targeted in the attempted robbery.

The case remains under investigation.
