Explore Sioux Falls through the lens of a local
This piece is sponsored by Experience Sioux Falls.
The best way to explore Sioux Falls like a local is to hear from the locals themselves. And Experience Sioux Falls aims to provide that through its yearly video series, which features residents sharing their favorite things to do around the city. In some cases, it’s also an opportunity for locals to share a little bit about their business or place of work.
ESF divides its audience base into five buckets, or personas, based on travel interests:
- Culinary explorer
- Culture seeker
- Active adventurer
- Family fun finder
- Music enthusiast
“Our research has shown that our audience has travel interests that fall into one of these five personas most often, so we try to tailor the majority of our content so that it appeals to at least one of these persona groups,” said Krista Orsack, director of marketing.
Now in its sixth season, the video series is produced in collaboration with Kickturn Studio to bring these ideas to life. Three videos have been released so far this year, with a fourth coming soon:
- Local musician Etta McKinley
- Greatest Show on H2O at Catfish Bay with Jim and Amara Bruns
- Sioux Falls State Theatre with Allison Weiland
“We know travelers likely aren’t choosing Sioux Falls based on a video or two, but these persona-based videos are a key piece of our marketing tool kit,” Orsack said. “They help us get in front of people who may still be deciding if Sioux Falls is a fit for them, and they also give people who’ve already booked some more ideas for their list of things to do.”
Stay tuned to ESF’s social media channels for the release of a culinary-focused video in the near future. The video also will be posted [here](link to video location), where you also can find links to seasons 1 through 5.
