From threat intelligence to business protection: Responding with IBM Concert Protect
Published 26 October 2026
A new threat advisory brings a familiar challenge: knowing attackers are exploiting vulnerabilities is not the same as understanding what those vulnerabilities mean for your business.
On 8 October, international cybersecurity agencies detailed how China-linked threat actors combine automated scanning with hands-on intrusion techniques to steal sensitive data. The U.S. Department of Justice also announced action against infrastructure supporting vulnerability-scanning and spear-phishing tools operated by Integrity Technology Group.
For security and application leaders, the questions are immediate:
- Are we exposed?
- Which applications matter most?
- Where should we focus our response?
IBM Concert® Protect helps organizations move from threat awareness to action: connecting vulnerability findings with application context, assisting teams in prioritizing risk, and accelerating remediation through automated workflows.
Know what the threat means for your business
The advisory identifies eight exploited CVEs spanning 2014 through 2023. The lesson is clear: attackers don’t need a newly discovered vulnerability when an older weakness still offers a viable entry point.
A list of CVEs, however, provides only part of the picture. Organizations need to understand where affected software exists, which applications depend on it, and how those applications relate to their operational priorities.
IBM Concert Protect correlates ingested vulnerability findings with applications, components, and environments. This context helps teams understand the relevance of an advisory to their own estate, not simply whether a vulnerability appears in a scanner’s report.
The result is a more informed response: visibility into affected applications and a clearer basis for deciding where attention is needed.
Focus remediation on the risks that matter
When vulnerability backlogs are large, treating every finding as equally urgent dilutes the response. Severity alone doesn’t capture the context in which a vulnerability exists.
IBM Concert Protect incorporates factors, such as network exposure, criticality, and global evidence of exploitation, into its risk scoring. This process helps teams prioritize findings according to their application context and focus remediation effort where it matters most.
For organizations responding to this advisory, it means moving beyond “Which CVEs do we have?” toward “Which affected applications should we address first?”
Build confidence in critical applications
