Green Bay Celebrates Sustainable Business Initiative
The City of Green Bay is celebrating the success of its “Sustainable Business Accelerator” program, which is funded by a local grant from the “Daybreak Fund.”
What is the program about?
The program helps business owners implement nature-based solutions to make their companies more sustainable. These solutions include:
- Reducing heat by adding more trees.
- Planting native plants for pollinators.
- Reducing single-use materials.
But the city encourages everyone to join in, not just businesses.
Christa Kananen's Message
Christa Kananen, the director of strategic initiatives for the Sustainable Business Council, stated:
"The City of Green Bay has a commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. To achieve this, we need lots of small actions, but also some big actions and changes."
Thursday's attendees were among the first to receive the nature-based solutions toolkit.
