Luecke’s Jewelry Celebrates 105 Years of Business in Freeport

Kelsy Woodall (WTVO) reported on October 14, 2026, that Luecke’s Jewelry in downtown Freeport is marking 105 years of operation. The business, founded in 1921, has been passed down through generations of the Luecke family.

Luecke’s has a rich history dating back to when the Luecke family ancestors settled in Freeport. Over time, family members took over the business, expanding its reach to serve customers in both Freeport and Monroe.

Marcia Luecke-Toepher, owner of the Freeport store, took over in 1981. She and her sister, who runs the Monroe store, have continued the family tradition.

Despite economic changes, Luecke-Toepher attributes the store's longevity to its steadfast values and the loyal support of its staff and customers.

"The values of the store haven’t changed more than 105 years... Our great grandfather, Robert G. and our late father, Charles, as well as Marcia and Alisha, have over continued with those. Those are of course the value of a product as well as a trust, loyalty and partnership," emphasized Bernie Luecke.
