A Milton business will have to pay the state a fine of $6,750 for a hazardous waste spill.
According to the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, in December 2024, petroleum product from Rowley Fuels Inc. overflowed from a fuel delivery truck during a transfer at their storage facility. Up to 10 gallons of oil flowed into the nearby Lamoille River.
Despite Rowley’s cleanup efforts, officials still detected and smelled gas along the river.
