MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) - Candidates running in Monongalia County races met with local business and community leaders in Morgantown on Tuesday night. The Morgantown Area Partnership hosted "An Evening with the Candidates." Those running for office gave brief remarks before speaking one-on-one with attendees about issues affecting the local economy.
State Sen. Mike Oliverio noted a major challenge for area businesses is finding and preparing workers:
“Our local businesses are struggling for employees, and so we’re trying to do things to help develop our workforce, all kinds of educational programs, workforce training programs, community and technical colleges, to help prepare this next workforce for the future. That’s one of their biggest challenges.”
Other topics raised during the event included infrastructure, healthcare, education, and taxes.
