Mural removed in downtown Kissimmee causes community outrage

Business owners explain their decision.

"WESH" reports on the recent removal of a mural in downtown Kissimmee, which has sparked a heated community debate.

This sudden change has left many residents and local artists disheartened, as the mural was seen as a vibrant addition to the area.

"We wanted to bring something unique to our community," one business owner stated, reflecting on the mural’s purpose. The vibrant colors and intricate design had indeed transformed the downtown landscape, attracting attention and fostering a sense of local pride.

However, the decision to remove the mural has sparked controversy. Some residents expressed concerns over the lack of consultation and appreciation for public art.

"It’s a shame to see it go," said a concerned citizen. "Art brings life to our streets, and this mural was a beautiful representation of our community."

Despite the outrage, business owners have their reasons. They argue that the mural’s removal is part of a larger plan to rejuvenate the area, and they plan to install new, community-driven art in its place.
