News Story:

Central Maine Power (CMP) recently requested a temporary rate increase, but the Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) voted unanimously to deny this proposal on Tuesday. The commission is still deliberating an overall permanent rate increase request from CMP.

PUC Chair Philip Bartlett explained that while temporary rate hikes can be approved under certain conditions, several organizations, including the Natural Resources Council of Maine, have lodged formal objections to the latest request. Consequently, the commission concluded that numerous issues required further consideration.
