Sanger High students launch custom manufacturing business through Valley ROP - ABC30 Fresno

Jet Creations: A Student-Run Business in Sanger High School

SANGER, Calif. (KFSN) -- A group of Sanger High School seniors is turning classroom skills into real-world experience through a student-run business that designs and manufactures custom products.

Jet Creations is a student-created and student-led company specializing in custom engraving and fabrication. Comprising five senior students—Ben Smith, Ryder Wagner, Sean Amaya, Jayden Tung, and Sharman Ghotra, the team collaborates on every aspect of the business, from its name and logo to website development.

Using a combination of a water jet and laser cutter, the students produce custom orders, Smith explains. They designed the business model, logo, and website independently, and when a customer places an order, they work together on the design before producing the final product.

"It's not necessarily that we have different roles," Smith says. "We all just collaborate together."

Jet Creations was established through the Valley Regional Occupational Program's (VROP) Student-Led Enterprises initiative, a grant-funded program that provides students with hands-on entrepreneurial experience. The program helped fund the water-jet cutting machine the business uses.

The initiative's goal is to enable students to operate a business, solve problems, and learn from mistakes while still in high school. Cauron, the advisor overseeing the project, expresses his belief in the initiative's benefits:

"The best engineers are those that learn how to use their hands, how to actually make things, as opposed to just doing the curriculum."

The business officially launched in October during a student showcase, and since then, the team has been accepting custom orders and laying the groundwork for future students who will continue the enterprise.

"It's exciting being a part of creating stuff for the pathway and being part of the future for the school," one student shares.

Community members can support the students and receive personalized, locally made products by placing custom orders through the website or emailing the team at [EMAIL_REDACTED].
