Slidell Homeowners Complain About Mold, Construction Issues in D.R. Horton Subdivision

Dozens of Slidell homeowners gathered Tuesday night (March 24) to voice their concerns about their homes and the developer, D.R. Horton.
From the outside, the Lakeshore Villages neighborhood appears luxurious. However, residents claim they are facing a nightmare, as detailed during a community forum.
Carolyn Doucette, a disabled resident since a stroke in 2011, expressed her frustration:
"Mold in my fourth bedroom closet. Mold in my laundry room. Now, I even have mold in my garage as we speak. It makes me feel like we were... like I was lied to."
The forum, hosted by Concerned Citizens of St. Tammany Parish, addressed issues in the subdivision, developed by America's largest homebuilder, according to their website.
Lance Unglesby, an attorney with experience litigating against D.R. Horton, accused the company of blaming Louisiana's humidity for mold issues, while the true culprit is their construction.
Many residents, some of them military veterans, agreed, emphasizing the need for accountability from D.R. Horton.
D.R. Horton did not respond to a request for comment.
