CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Two juveniles have been charged in connection to the assault of a business owner in Charleston's West Side, police said.
The incident occurred outside of the Wandering Wind Meadery, located in the 400 block of Washington Street West, shortly before 1 a.m. early Sunday morning. Security camera footage captured a group of people assaulting the business' owner Dave Bragg.
Bragg suffered several injuries as a result of the assault.
The Charleston Police Department said it launched an investigation, and according to a press release on Monday, they charged two juveniles with malicious wounding. The release said police believe these two people to be the primary aggressors of the assault. More juveniles may be charged as the investigation into the incident carries on.
"The Charleston Police Department reminds parents and guardians of the importance of knowing where their children are, who they are with, and what activities they are involved in," the release said in part. "Adults play a critical role in preventing incidents like this through supervision and accountability."
Police said the suspects' identities will not be released due to their status as minors.
