UA Business Spotlight: The Original Goodie Shop
Upper Arlington, OH
If you’ve spent any time in Upper Arlington, chances are you’ve heard of The Original Goodie Shop. And if you’ve ever walked out of the bakery with a box of its famous cinnamon sticks, chances are you understand why. For more than 70 years, The Original Goodie Shop has been serving up donuts, cookies, cakes, pastries, breads and plenty of sweet treats from its location at 2116 Tremont Center. What started as a family business in 1955 is still family-owned and operated today, now in its third generation. Today, sisters and co-owners Miranda Smith and Emilie Smith run the bakery, continuing a family tradition that has made The Original Goodie Shop a longtime fixture in Upper Arlington.
The bakery’s cinnamon sticks are one of its signature treats, drawing longtime customers who know exactly what they want when they walk through the door. Soft, sweet and covered in cinnamon and sugar, they’ve become synonymous with The Original Goodie Shop and are a must-try for anyone new to the bakery.
But there’s much more behind the counter. The Original Goodie Shop is a full-service bakery offering everything from everyday treats to custom cakes and cookies for birthdays, weddings and other celebrations. Its selection includes donuts, pastries, breads, dinner rolls, cookies, and other baked goods, with plenty of options to satisfy a sweet tooth or fill the table for a special occasion.
While recipes and traditions have been passed down through three generations, Miranda and Emilie continue to put their own stamp on the business as they look toward its future. In 2025, The Original Goodie Shop celebrated its 70th anniversary, marking seven decades of baking and serving the Upper Arlington community.
For many customers, the bakery is about more than what’s in the box. It’s a familiar stop for a Saturday morning donut run, a birthday cake picked up before a celebration or, of course, a few cinnamon sticks to take home. After 70 years, The Original Goodie Shop has become one of those places where generations of Upper Arlington families can share the same favorite treats.
