CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Josh Dorrell, CEO of the Wyoming Business Council since 2020, is stepping down from his position after a special meeting on October 14. The WBC’s Board of Directors will immediately begin searching for an interim CEO before installing a permanent leader next summer.
The Wyoming Business Council is a statewide organization that promotes economic growth, lobbies for pro-business legislation with the state, and provides tools and resources for businesses to grow locally. Dorrell led this mission since 2020.
He guided the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic, distributing millions of dollars in federal funds to help struggling businesses. The council noted his initiatives like Building Resilient Communities, Wyoming Venture Capital, and Assessment to Action, which helped keep young people from migrating out of the state.
“Over nearly seven years, Josh has demonstrated a genuine passion for Wyoming and a steadfast commitment to the businesses and communities that make our state special,” said Derek Smith, co-chair of the WBC Board of Directors. “His leadership has made a meaningful and lasting impact, and we are grateful for the energy, dedication, and heart Josh has brought to the Wyoming Business Council and its mission.”
The board will begin searching for an interim president immediately and aims to make an announcement as soon as possible. A permanent CEO will be selected by summer 2027.
