Austin Couple Launches Mobile Candy Truck Business

KXAN (Austin) -- Halloween has arrived, and one Austin couple is bringing the "sweetness" to Austin through a custom-built mobile candy truck business.

Founders Faryn and Greg Kinney launched Bite Size ATX earlier this month. KXAN spoke to the couple and asked how the idea of a candy truck came to fruition.

Faryn Kinney noticed other candy trucks operating in other cities and states, but had not seen one in Austin, Texas.

Greg Kinney, an engineer, converted a truck into a mobile candy store, while Faryn Kinney, with a marketing background, worked on branding and design.

"We've been trying to... flex our entrepreneurial skills a little bit and try something fun and just see what we're able to do, and all of those things kind of culminated together and Bite Size was born," Faryn Kinney said.

After sharing their journey through social media videos, the couple was surprised by the community's support.

Throughout the process, Greg Kinney learned the importance of open communication and dialogue.

"I think it's important to hear everyone out. Everyone has something good to add... making, communicating with people and having that open dialogue is really, really helpful for the success of kind of any project, but especially this one," Greg Kinney said.

Bite Size ATX offers a variety of Swedish and European candies, many of which are gluten-free, gelatin-free, dye-free, and vegan.
