EverHope Seeks 10 Foster Families in Northwest Arkansas
Northwest Arkansas is in need of more foster families, and EverHope is reaching out to identify 10 prospective foster families by the end of 2026, as stated in a recent news release. When there is a shortage of licensed homes, children in foster care often get separated from their siblings, schools, support systems, and communities. The data reveals that over half of the youth entering foster care are placed outside their home county.
EverHope has launched the 10 Family Challenge to combat this issue and ensure more youth can stay within their communities while in foster care. The organization aims to help 10 qualified families initiate the foster-care licensing process by the end of the year. They are calling upon churches, businesses, civic groups, community organizations, and individuals to assist in reaching out to families who may be interested in fostering.
"There are children in Northwest Arkansas who require the safety and support of a foster family, but we currently don't have enough homes to cater to their needs," said Rebekah Mitchell, CEO of EverHope. "There might be families in our community who are willing to foster but haven't had the chance to learn about it yet. We need the community's support to connect with them."
The 10 Family Challenge offers three ways to get involved:
- Invite EverHope to speak at meetings, services, employee gatherings, or community events.
- Promote the need for foster families through social media, email, or newsletters using the hashtag #10FamilyChallenge.
- Introduce interested individuals and families to EverHope's foster care program using the downloadable info sheet.
"You might not be called to foster, but you may know someone who is," added Mitchell. "Extending an invitation to us to speak, sharing the need, or making a personal introduction could be the catalyst for someone to take the first step."
