The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department (VFW) is encouraging licensed deer hunters to participate in their annual deer hunter effort and sighting survey, available on the VFW website from November 14th, marking the start of the regular hunting season.
The survey requests hunters record their hunting hours and the number of deer, moose, bears, or other wildlife they observe daily. This data is crucial for VFW to assess hunting pressure and animal populations across the state.
"This survey is a valuable tool for hunters to share their experiences and contribute to more precise deer and wildlife management," said Nick Fortin, VFW's deer and moose project leader. "Increased participation will lead to more reliable population estimates and effective management strategies."
Key Points:
- Licensed deer hunters are invited to take part in the survey.
- The survey covers hunter effort, wildlife sightings, and other relevant information.
- The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources manages the survey through the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department.
