Thousands are expected in Raleigh this weekend as Halloween celebrations draw crowds and boost local businesses.
Families Enjoy Halloween Festivities
Families packed the sidewalks along Oakwood Street as elaborate decorations and spooky displays came to life. Lisa Sullivan, a longtime resident, shared her love for the neighborhood's Halloween display:
"I absolutely love coming to Oakwood every year to check out everything. What's added? What's been here? I've been in the neighborhood for seven years."
Extended Celebrations Benefit Businesses
This year, Halloween stretches beyond a single night, offering people a full weekend to enjoy. This extended celebration is expected to boost local businesses:
-
Miami Rush on Peace Street, co-owner Stephen Allen noted, "Halloween literally is one of our busiest days of the year. So having both Friday and Saturday celebrations is going to be great... we're really excited for this Halloween."
-
Small businesses like Bold Batch Creamery are also preparing for increased demand, offering Halloween-themed treats like "Trick or Treat" ice cream and "Cookies and Scream."
City Prepares for Large Crowds
City officials anticipate thousands attending Halloween events and the Oaks Marathon in Glenwood South. A section of Glenwood South from Jones Street to Peace Street will close to traffic starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Excitement Builds
Lisa Sullivan expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming celebrations:
"Everyone's ready to dress up."
