Rochester's startup community came together Monday night to kick off the inaugural ROC Startup Week , a six-day celebration of local entrepreneurs, small businesses and innovation.
Hosted by RocGrowth, the event brings together business leaders, artists, nonprofit organizations and community members to connect and celebrate the city's entrepreneurial spirit.
Monday's kickoff at Sibley Square featured a free screening of "City Mark: A Rochester Icon," a documentary exploring the history of Rochester's iconic logo, from its creation 50 years ago to its lasting significance as a symbol of civic pride.
"You put so much of your heart and soul into something, and you just hope and pray that people receive it well," said Nate Miller, the film's director. "Honestly, the response has been overwhelming."
The screening was followed by a celebration at The Mercantile, giving attendees an opportunity to network and connect with others in Rochester's business and creative communities.
ROC Startup Week runs through Saturday, Nov. 7.
