CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — An investigation is underway after a man was attacked outside of a business in Charleston early Sunday morning, police said.

The incident took place outside of the Wandering Wind Meadery on Charleston's West Side just before 1 a.m.

Wandering Wind Meadery owner Dave Bragg was going to check on a commotion outside of his business. He said that's where his memory cuts off.

"I remember up until right before I walked out the door, and then there's a few flashes of the ambulance, but then really in the hospital,"* Bragg said.

Bragg, beaten and bruised, was surrounded Sunday by those closest to him like Annie DeBord, all of whom said they're grateful he's still with them after he was allegedly beaten outside of his business.

"You don't really know how to go about recovering for something like this,"* DeBord said. "I'm thankful that he's alive and that he was strong enough to fight for his life."

The Charleston Police Department said they have launched an investigation and are looking for those responsible.

"There's been a huge support and people doing that, so if people can continue to share those videos, and if you recognize any of the people in the videos, come forward and talk to the police," Bragg said.
