Programs at the Discovery Center

Nearly 12,000 students visit the Discovery Center in the Savannah area. The center offers two programs:

  • JA BizTown: Students run businesses, take out a business loan, pay back startup costs, sell a product, pay taxes and vote.
  • JA Finance Park: Students receive a random life scenario involving salary, debt, or a family, and learn to balance wants and needs.

The program starts in classrooms with 20 hours of teacher-led instruction, culminating in a visit to the Discovery Center where students put their knowledge to work.

Tootle noted that the program reaches over half of Georgia’s middle schoolers through its facilities.

Junior Achievement worldwide has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for the fifth year in a row.
