Navigate North Business Summit: Supporting Cadillac Business Leaders
The Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its inaugural Navigate North Business Summit on Friday, bringing together local business leaders for training and networking opportunities. Over 60 attendees participated, engaging with regional experts through presentations and panel discussions.
Addressing Local Business Needs
The summit was organized in response to requests from local businesses seeking professional development options within the region. David Cox, president and CEO of the Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce, noted the frequent need for local professionals to travel to larger cities for training.
“What kept coming back was opportunities for training or information or professional development locally... We’re like, you know what, let’s bring these people to one spot, one stop shopping.” - David Cox, Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce
Panel Discussion: Why Cadillac?
A key highlight was the panel discussion, "Why Cadillac," where city and industry representatives shared their reasons for choosing to live and operate in the area. Christophe Lavigne, president of Highfield Boats, emphasized the community's appeal:
"It’s big enough to serve you well. It’s small enough to be somebody in and to know people... and it’s safe."
Keynote Address: Workforce Management Across Generations
Sonya Bielecki, an owner of a local BIGGBY Coffee franchise with extensive human resources experience, delivered the keynote speech. She emphasized the importance of embracing the skills and perspectives of different age groups in the modern workplace:
"Instead of focusing on the differences between generations, we need to capitalize on the high skill set level that every generation brings... so that we can make a more unified and collaborative workforce."

Attendees participated in various breakout sessions covering a range of topics, including:
- Marketing strategies
- Employee wellness initiatives
- Employment law updates
