Poor Leaders and Their Impact on Employee Mental Health
Startland News, October 5, 2026
Ebrima "Abraham" Sisay, founder of You Gotta No! Podcast (YGN), YGN Summit, and Heliona, believes that business culture needs a complete overhaul, and it starts with acknowledging the human cost of building a company.
"I’m a strong believer in human to human connection... because there’s so much loneliness and isolation happening," Sisay shared. "That’s because we’re getting further away from what we are meant to do as humans."
YGN Summit: A Space for Honest Conversations
The YGN Summit returns on October 13th at The Bauer in Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District, followed by a full-day event on October 14th at the Kansas City Convention Center. This summit aims to spark conversations about culture, boundaries, and well-being in the workplace.
"I feel like we’re in a time where friction is so needed in our life because we don’t know what’s real anymore online with AI," Sisay said. "So I’m trying to create that in a physical space."
Addressing Mental Health in the Workplace
Sisay emphasizes the importance of mental health, recognizing that a difficult day at work can easily spill over into personal life.
"At the root of it all is mental health... because we’re all humans," he noted.
Summit Speakers and Topics
Panelists at the October 14th summit include representatives from various companies, such as Creative Planning, Lockton, Boddle Learning, Crux, Roz, Yates and Yates Co., Molzer Development, and Flyover Capital.
Sisay aims to have diverse perspectives represented, ensuring that employees' voices are heard.
"I want to have the executive perspective, the HR perspective, the employee perspective... because usually when I go to summits, you see just the execs getting exalted throughout the whole day, and it’s like employees don’t feel like they’re being heard."
The 4C Framework
All panel discussions will fall under Sisay's created "4C Framework": communication, clarity, capacity, and crisis.
"The goal of the 4C is to make sure that every leader within the company is leading toward connection or conflict; you decide where you want to lead."
