Port of Kennewick Conducts Interviews for Commission Seat

The Port of Kennewick is holding public interviews on November 4th for four finalists vying for their vacant commission seat. The special meeting will take place at 5 p.m. at the Tri-Cities Business and Visitor Center board room, located at 7130 W. Grandridge Blvd., Kennewick.

Out of eight initial applicants for the District 1 position, four will be interviewed: Matt Boehnke, Don Britain, Marie Mosley, and Robert (Rob) Welch. They will be questioned about their enthusiasm for serving as port commissioner, their goals during their appointed term, and their plans to run in the 2027 election if appointed.

The commission seat became vacant when Ken Hohenberg retired on September 1st to spend more time with his family. His six-year term, which began in 2022, will end on December 31, 2027.

Port commissioners receive an annual salary of $37,511, plus medical benefits, according to the port's website. The chosen candidate will be officially appointed at the port's regular public meeting on November 10th at 2 p.m.
