Timbaland Files $15 Million Fraud Lawsuit Against Former Managers
Timbaland has filed a $15 million lawsuit against his former manager, Gary Marella, and business manager, Bruce Seckendorf, alleging fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and civil theft.
In a 65-page suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, Timbaland claims Marella stole commissions, fees, and reimbursements, used his funds to pay Marella's employees, and falsified financial records to conceal unauthorized payments.
The suit also alleges that Seckendorf's firm failed to pay Timbaland's mortgage, leading to foreclosure, and did not pay federal taxes on time, resulting in penalties and interest.
According to the suit, "Defendants used their entrusted authority...to enrich themselves...and deplete Timbaland’s valuable assets." Timbaland seeks to recover losses, compel an accounting, and stop the unauthorized use of his name.
The producer only discovered the alleged misconduct when he received a foreclosure notice at his home last year, prompting a call to Seckendorf, who, according to the suit, failed to provide a clear explanation.
