Microsoft is sending out buyout offers to more than a quarter of its workforce, with specific offers reviewed by Business Insider revealing the details of what employees receive if they choose to leave.
Individualized Offers:
The offers are tailored to each employee's level, location, and tenure. They align with Microsoft's standard US severance offers.
Severance Package:
- Base Pay: One week of base pay per six months of service for levels 64 and below; two weeks for levels 65 to 67.
- Stock Vesting: Continued regular stock vesting for a period determined by years of service.
- Health Insurance: Continued health insurance.
- Standard Severance: Capped at 39 weeks of base pay for levels 67 and below; 12 months of salary for level 68.
Voluntary Retirement Program:
Earlier this year, Microsoft introduced a voluntary retirement program for employees, aligning with its standard severance offer. Approximately 7% of Microsoft's US workforce was eligible.
