Incarnate Word Takes Down Northwestern State
Incarnate Word took care of business against the Northwestern State Demons, winning 66-14 in a dominant performance.
A Dominant Display
With a two-game winning streak, Incarnate Word was focused on continuing their momentum. Northwestern State, on the other hand, entered the game winless and with a poor record dating back to 2022.
Clint Killough, coach of Incarnate Word, emphasized the importance of a championship mindset:
"This was the expectation. I told (the team), 'If you want to be a championship football team, you have to dominate football games like this.' So this shouldn't come as a surprise to those guys."
Early Lead and Dominance
The Cardinals took an early lead with a 44-yard pass from Emmett Brown to Roy Alexander. Jayden Hibbler extended the lead with a touchdown run on the following play.
D'Arius Carmouche set the tone for the game with an impressive 29-yard interception return for a touchdown, showcasing the Cardinals' defensive prowess.
Statistical Edge
Incarnate Word dominated the game statistically, amassing 566 yards of total offense and forcing four turnovers on defense.
Killough attributed their success to their turnover creation, a key factor in their recent turnaround.
